2009 Highground Bike Tour

August 3rd - 9th

First, a little summary about this year's tour………….

In the 2009 HGBT, we are combining the pre-2007 Tour with the new 2008 Tour, to make the First Ever - 7 Day Event. This year’s tour will start Monday, August 3rd at Tony & Stacy’s house in Racine, and end Sunday August 9th at The Highground in Neillsville, WI.

The first day will have a start/arrival time of 7am with introduction and load-up. It is very important that everyone helps with trailers, signs, water, cooler patrol, etc during this time to get us off on the right foot. We will begin riding @ 9am.

Day 1 – Will take us to Waterford for lunch at the River House Pub & Grill. We will then travel to East Troy for showers at the high school and then, dinner and our overnight at the V.F.W.

Day 2 – Will start with a ride into Palmyra for breakfast, and then into Fort Atkinson for lunch at the V.F.W. We will then end the day in Sun Prairie with a hotel stay (4 per room). We will then close the night with a Prime Rib dinner at the V.F.W.

Day 3 – Will start with a ride to Frogstown for a BFSE breakfast at the town park pavilion. Then we will head to the Merrimac free ferry. Once we cross the river we will then take a short downhill ride to Portage for lunch at the V.F.W. We will finish the day @ Crooked Lake (Springer s' Cottage) with a BBQ at the lake.  Bring a tent or we have the local school for two days for showering and overnight sleeping arrangements while in Oxford

Day 4 – IS A REST DAY!!!!!!!! What you do is completely up to you, BUT…………. we will have day rides and a time set up for all that are interested. Or just enjoy the lake with swimming, fishing, sail boating, paddle boating, canoeing, & pontoon boat riding. This day has gotten a bit out of control.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Breakfast on this day will be at the famous “Maggie Mays” (highly recommended) and dinner will be at the “Boondocks” @ 4pm.

Day 5 – Our addition to this year is bringing us back to old stomping grounds. We’ll have a BFSE breakfast during the morning ride (Harrisville park pavilion). Lunch will be back in Princeton (desserts), and our overnight will be in Wild Rose at the high school. Friday Night Fish Fry @ “The Pioneer Pub” on the back deck overlooking the lake .

Day 6 – Will have another BFSE breakfast stop to start the day (Peloton’s choice). Followed by lunch at the V.F.W. in Plover (Big tank, spaghetti). The day will end in Pittsville with a town party at the local park (for us) catered by Baum Foods. There will be a live band and all food and BEER is being provided. (Side note: there is a possibility that the Madison group will be joining us at this stop and for the remainder of the tour).

Day 7 – Will start with breakfast at the V.F.W. in Pittsville also being catered by Baum. We will then ride to the Highgrounds, arriving by Noon and meeting up with the other 4 bike groups for lunch and the closing ceremony.

Late start mid week

If you wish to start the tour wed. August 5th you have that option.  Jay Haen, Michelle S, & Stacy C are departing  that evening In the White Express.  If you wish to get a ride to Crooked  Lake.

Costs for the Tour – are divided into two separate payments.

1st – This one is easy. The Highgrounds has a minimum donation of $100 per rider. Now note, that is a minimum donation; you are encouraged to raise as much as you can. If you put a little effort towards this, you should have no issues raising the funds through donations.

2nd – Is the BFSE side of things. This is the funds that cover our costs getting to and from the Highground. This includes ALL of your sleeping arrangements, transportation of your personnel gear, and all of your meals (except for two breakfast stops). It also includes your transportation home, not to mention the personnel beer support along the way!!!!!!

To make things easier on our end…….

ALL MONEY IS DUE BY AUGUST 1ST. IF YOUR MONEY IS NOT IN BY THIS DATE YOU WILL NOT BE ATTENDING THIS YEAR'S TOUR PERIOD!!!!!

Now in saying that, we are making things easier then in year's past. You can make your payments through cash, check, money order, or through PayPal.   Through PayPal you will be able to make your payments on-line using your bank-card, checking account, or credit card.

Now, with all that said, we have broken down the BFSE dollar amounts into days. Whatever day you join us that is the fee required.
